Your check-up at Willow Street
When you visit the practice for a check-up you will be seen by one of our experienced dentists.
If you have a dental phobia, we can help you relax. We are proud to have treated many patients who have not seen a dentist before, or who have not seen a dentist for several years. We like to book you with the same dentist on each visit, to allow you to build your confidence and get used to your dentist.
What happens at a dental check-up?
Most check-ups take just 10–15 minutes, depending on your oral health. During the appointment the dentist will:
- Examine your teeth, gums and mouth
- Check your mouth and neck for abnormalities
- Ask about your general health and any problems you've had with your teeth, mouth or gums since your last visit
- Ask about, and give you advice on, your diet, smoking and alcohol use, and teeth-cleaning habits
How often should I have a check-up?
Typically we recommend visiting your dentist every six months, to ensure that any problems that arise are treated early. We have a strong belief in prevention through education and advice — so that you limit the number of procedures required and keep your mouth as healthy as possible.
We also recommend a visit to the hygienist each time you see the dentist for your regular appointment. See our fee guide for the cost of a routine examination.
